Documents Needed to Open a Business Account
For your business identification, we will need:
- Proof of EIN number- This can be the letter from the IRS issuing the EIN OR a previously filed tax return.
- If you are a sole proprietor using your individual SSN, we will need a completed DBA certificate that has been recorded at the Register of Deeds. We will also require a copy of the social security card for the sole proprietor.
- Locate your business type below. We will need at least ONE form of documentation listed in the bulleted list under your business type.
Corporations
- Registration with NC Secretary of State
- Articles of Incorporation/Bylaws
- Business License/Seller’s Permit
LLC- Limited Liability Company
- Registration with NC Secretary of State
- Articles of Organization
- Operating Agreement
- Business License/Seller’s Permit
- Current Manager Appointments
General and Limited Partnerships
- Registration with NC Secretary of State
- Partnership Agreement
- Assumed Business Name Certificate (must be recorded at the Register of Deeds)
Not-for-Profit Organizations
- Charter/Bylaws
- Articles of Incorporation/Organization
- Letter on letterhead signed by two or more officers detailing those authorized to transact on the account
Sole Proprietorships or Partnerships Between Spouses
- Assumed Business Name Certificate (must be recorded at the Register of Deeds)
- Business License
Each individual who will be a signer on the account needs to bring the following:
- SSN or TIN number
- One of the following government issued photo IDs:
- U.S. or Foreign Passport
- U.S. Driver’s License
- U.S. State Issued Identification
- Alien Registration Card (Permanent Resident Card)
- US Visa
- IF the photo ID does not list the signer’s current address, we will need proof of current address in the form of a:
- Utility, Cell Phone or Insurance Bill
- Property Tax Bill
- Voter ID Card
