2025 ‘Do More’ Scholarship Contest

Congratulations to our 2025 ‘Do More’ Scholarship recipients!

As a community-based credit union, we strive to do more for our members and the greater Wayne County community. The ‘Do More’ Scholarship Contest was established in 2015, to do just that. We wanted to provide students with funds to help them achieve their academic goals, and promote financial literacy that they can carry with them throughout their young adult life.

This scholarship required students to participate in a ‘Financial Life Skills’ assembly that taught them all about spending wisely, saving, loans, credit scores and more!

Not only does this scholarship seek to provide students with financial advice, but it also offers an opportunity for them to express how each would use their unique talents and gifts to positively impact their communities.

Our scholarship committee enjoyed reading each essay, and was touched by the commitment to our community these students have displayed, as well as their plans for the future.

This year, we are proud to award the $750 ‘Do More’ Scholarship to four Wayne County students.

Abbygayle Best-Barbian – she will be attending Campbell University and plans to pursue a career in Special Education.

Ava Kimbrell – she will be attending East Carolina University and is passionate about studying pediatric nursing to become a Pediatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Brianna Smith – she will be attending Meredith College where she plans to pursue a career involving working with special needs children, specifically in the field of play therapy.

Brenna Tyndall – she plans to attend Barton College to complete pre-density courses, then transfer to East Carolina University to complete her undergraduate studies and ultimately attend Dental School.

On behalf of NC Community Credit Union, the Scholarship Committee, and our Board of Directors, I want to congratulate each of you and wish you the brightest future and success in all your endeavors!
