'Do More' Scholarship Contest

*Eligible seniors must be a member of NCCFCU or reside in the household of a current NCCFCU member .

As a community-based credit union, we strive to DO MORE for our members and the greater Wayne County community.

In so many ways, high school seniors are just beginning to realize their potential and how it can impact those around them. Additionally, they are embarking on a journey into adulthood that will require them to make real-world decisions frequently.

The “Do More” Scholarship Program seeks to not only provide students with financial advice that they can carry into their post-graduation lives, but to offer an opportunity for them to express how each would use his or her unique talents and gifts to positively impact the area in which we live.

Your NC Community Credit Union will award numerous scholarship in the amount of $750.00 to deserving high school seniors. The scholarship can be used for furthering education at a 2-year or 4-year institution or trade school.

Applying for the scholarship is easy! Each senior applicant must:

Attend a 1-hour interactive seminar entitled “Financial Life Skills” taught by Your NC Community Credit Union. The purpose purpose of this seminar is to prepare students for life after high school with financial education that is often overlooked.

The “Financial Life Skills” seminar will be offered at the following times at NCCFCU. (Use form below to sign up to attend.)

Thursday, February 26th at 5:15pm

Monday, March 16th at 5:15pm

Wednesday, April 1st at 5:15pm

Complete the scholarship application and gather requested materials (current transcript, list of achievements, honors and activities, one letter of recommendation)

In approximately 500 words, respond to the following essay question: How do you plan to utilize your current knowledge and planned future education to invest yourself in a way that makes an impact on our county, state, nation or world?

Deadline to receive applications is April 10th, 2026 by 5PM. Scholarship recipients will be selected no later than May 1st, 2026 and will be notified of the award promptly.

 

A scholarship reception and check ceremony will be held at Your NC Community Credit Union in late May to honor the recipients, their families and their school administrators for a job well done.
